This collection of music for medieval bagpipes in G/a has been selected from a variety of sources by Dr Lindsay Davidson. All tunes are 14th century and earlier, although the title tune, 'L'Homme Arme', reached the height of its popularity in the mid 15th century, it can be dated to late medieval times. The tunes represent a mixture of songs and dances and eerily haunting airs in free rhythm and also include some of the greatest hits of the period - Alfonso X's Cantiga 119, Machaut's Douce Dame Jolie, and more. The intention is to provide an entire authentic repertoire for the solo medieval pipe player. Players of other instruments can also use this music as written. Please note that if your pipes are in C/d, there is another book which has the same content but written for pipes in C/d.
