Levantina: 1. The Shibboleth

By William Thomas

A Myth. An occupied land. A never-ending war. Nobody is innocent.

Truth has become a battlefield.

On the brink of war, a young officer stumbles into a mystery that shatters everything he believes in. What begins as a routine national service deployment pulls him into a hidden world of paramilitaries and intelligence agencies, clerics and oligarchs, old grudges, and manufactured myths.

As Michael peels back the layers concealing the machinery of repression he has been raised to serve from birth, he is forced to confront an uncomfortable truth-his own place within the system. In a conflict shaped by occupation, resistance, and propaganda, guilt is diffused, responsibility is denied, and violence is never accidental. Levantina is a novel about empire, resistance, and the price of discovering the side you are fighting for may be the wrong one.
