Review of Auguste and Louis Lumiere Letters

This book entails letters written by Auguste Lumiere and Lois Lumiere and many of their contacts. The letters range from the very beginnings in their invention of the autochrome all the way till their last years in life. The book also entails detailed footnotes and an informative introduction. This book is a first hand account of the path the Lumiere brothers took in creating the first movie and many of their other inventions. Through their letters the reader is exposed to; their influences, which ranged from the industrial revolution to their father; their trials, which ranged from other inventors to finding the right kind of film; and their journey in forging a new industry. This is a great resource that depicts the begging's of a medium that is very prevalent and often taken for granted in the twenty first century. This book gives a humanistic view of the science involved in creating the first camera. The editor was probably compelled to put this book together in order to show the world a primary resource of two men who, may be unknown by many, have a large impact on the way people are entertained and informed.
