Great book for young girls!!!

My husband actually heard Danae talk about this book on her father's Focus on the Family segment one day on the radio. He came home and told me about it and we agreed it'd be great for our church's Focus group girls. They are grades 7-12 and they LOVE it, too!

Although this book is listed as a "youth" book targetted to "teenagers" in junior high and high school, the language/writing style seem more accessible to older high school, college (and even some post-college women). The topics/content of the book is overall very solid, and i pretty much agree with her take on most topics except some of what she says regarding if its ok to flirt and date might be taken the wrong way. But overall I would recommend the book especially for someone 14-18yo. The content is good even for college age girls, but she does have several references to "teenager" or junior high. I like how she is open and up front of about a lot of issues that many girls face, and I was suprised that she seemed aware about subtleties of issues/pressures girls face. I like how the end of each 3 page chapter ends with devotiona, application or "get you to think" questions. Her target audience is definitely christians (or at least people who claim to be christian), because her overall approach is "you are a christian, so do what god wants but don't do sin. She approaches the book as a big sister giving advice to a younger sister. she does so by illustrating her moralizing with her personal stories and experiences of friends she definitely touches uopon the issue about guys and sex, which I think is good that she brings it up, but I don't think she did a perfect job with that, but overall acceptable. I like how she definitely talked about not bowing into peer pressure, being self confident and sticking to own morals, and also fleeing from temptation

Good, but not specific enough

I'm teaching a Sunday School class for 7th-8th grade girls, and am collecting as many resources as possible. This book is good, but I wish there were more specifics and suggestions. Overall, a pretty good resource.

Totally Changed!

This book really helped me with my walk with God. If you are even just 11 [...], it can really make a difference in your life! I really liked the book, and it was worth the money!

Talking Up Let's Talk!

?Where was Danae Dobson when I was a teenager in the sixties? I certainly could have used her sage counsel during that turbulent decade. I recently purchased her new book Let's Talk, as a graduation gift for my niece, and ended up reading it cover to cover myself. I was captivated. Dobson has penned a teenage treasure chest-a creative compendium of important insights teenage girls need to know about God, guys, girlfriends, and growing up. With wisdom that belies her own youthful years, Dobson has filled this tiny tome with a plethora of inspiration about everything from peer pressure to parents to personal relationships with God-and more! Her brownie story alone (which takes the cake!) is worth the price of the book! Good writing may run in the Dobson family, but clearly Danae Dobson has found her own voice and uses it to sound a clarion call for teenage girls. If they harken it, they will navigate the teen-age years successfully with the grace, wisdom, and blessing of God. This book is a must-read for both teenagers and those who love them. -Lynn D.
