The Let's Go Guides are really about budget travel, so they give tips on inexpensive eats and places to stay. Really appropriate for student travelers as it also gives perspectives on nightlife. There are some funny bits hidden inside the prose which makes the time on the bus or train pass faster. The maps are not great, but you will need to purchase a map somewhere else anyhow so it's not so much an issue for me.
Great Map

We bought this map and the "Eyewitness.." map of Rome. The "Let's Go.." was preferred by the group - more detail, easier to read. Both maps lack up-to-date info on the expanded metro, so be sure to get a paper map also when you arrive.
