Let's Celebrate Diversity

Thelma Guerra uses poetry to discuss and illustrate different school subjects to her students. She is a firm believer that through poetry, children can express their feelings and ideas. Her debut publication titled "Celebremos la diversidad" (published by Xlibris) comprises the poems she has written about her personal experiences, presented through a mother's, teacher's and a member of society's perspective. Now, she presents her second book titled "Let's Celebrate Diversity" (the English version to her debut publication). Drawing inspiration from her experiences living in different places, Guerra hopes to effectively portray the need to appreciate diversity through her words of rhythm and rhyme. The book contains 47 poems with a message of brotherhood and respect to the cultural values of different ethnic groups represented in society. Guerra believes that the book has the potential to be used in the classroom because of its richness in language and literary images. "Through my poems, I send uplifting messages of harmony and love to parents, teachers, children and the entire educational system," she shares.
