Every person should take a moment to examine what he/she believes and considers to be the truth. As the prophet Jeremiah says to a confused and defeated people, "Let us search and try our ways" (Lam. 3:40). The purpose of this book is to give readers the tools to examine their beliefs. Modern observers in religious thought call this process deconstruction. Everyone re-evaluates their beliefs from the previous generation to some degree. No one should feel ashamed or afraid to take a close look at what they have been taught. In fact, God encourages people to use reason in their conviction (Isa. 1:18; Acts 17:11).
