Born in October of 1917, William Law grew up in Tennessee where he graduated from Smith County High School in 1936. Mr. Law went on to attend Peabody Vanderbilt School of Education and later became a teacher and principal of various schools. In 1941, Mr. Law began his service in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After his discharge from the Army, he obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. He continued a career in social services, working as a counselor to many children and families with an emphasis in marriage counseling. This book is a specific account of the 5 years between 1941 and 1945 of Mr. Law's life. In this book and through his personal recollections, he invites the reader to share in his intimate and at times horrific encounters while serving his country in World War II.
