Tomboy Amy is a 1980s farm girl who can drive a truck, make her own apple cider, and stand up to anyone who crosses her, especially her stuck-up classmate, Evan. When her family's way of life is threatened by encroaching factory farms in Southern Illinois, Amy can't just sit by while the grown-ups try to work things out. While Momma and Daddy would like her to take a more civilized approach, Paps understands Amy impatience with phony politicians and heartless corporations. Eventually even Momma takes a rebellious stand, and celebrities rally to support the cause with Farm Aid. When Amy's life is turned upside down and nothing seems fair anymore, she learns that sometimes fighting for what's right is more important than actually winning the battle.
