Lessons from the Hundred Acre Wood: Adaptive Teaching in Practice

This workshop, suited to Secondary or Primary teachers who teach pupils with a diverse range of learning needs, aims to help participants in the following ways. Enhanced Understanding: Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to identify and address diverse learning needs. Practical Skills: Participants will acquire practical skills in applying cognitive teaching principles to realclassroom scenarios. Customisation: Participants will learn to customise instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of their students. Memorable: Participants will have a unique and memorable experience that they can share with colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovative teaching practices. To do this, the workshop uses the beloved characters from Winnie the Pooh to explore adaptive teaching strategies through practical, interactive simulations. Participants will engage directly by embodying these characters, gaining insights into diverse learning needs through cognitive teaching principles like Rosenshine's effective instruction, dual coding, and cognitive load theory.
