Lessings Emilia Galotti: Nebst Einem Anhange: Die Dreiactige Bearbeitung [German]

By Gotthold Ephraim Lessing

Emilia Galotti, by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, is a classic of German dramatic literature. This edition, published in 1882, includes not only the original play but also a three-act adaptation, offering readers a unique opportunity to compare and contrast different interpretations of Lessing's work.

Lessing's play is a powerful exploration of themes such as morality, power, and social injustice. Set in an Italian court, the tragedy unfolds as the virtuous Emilia Galotti becomes the object of desire for a corrupt prince, leading to a series of tragic events. This edition, carefully prepared with an appendix featuring the adapted version, provides valuable insights into the play's enduring appeal and its place in the German literary canon. Students and scholars of German literature will find this edition an invaluable resource for understanding Lessing's masterpiece.
