في الرحيل، تتناسل الأمكنة، تفرد المرافئ والمطارات أذرعها وتبتلع الراحلين قبل أن تلفظهم في صقيع المدن. عائلة قدسي السوريّة تأقلمت مع ثلج مونتريال، لكنّ شمس حمص لا تزال تسكن صدور أفرادها كلغمٍ مؤجّل، أو كحلمٍ عنيد. تطارد الكاتبة السورية عبير داغر إسبر أفراد عائلة قدسي في هجراتهم بين حمص ونيس ومونتريال، تعود بعيدًا في تاريخ العائلة وسِيَر نسائها تحديدًا. رواية ورثة الصمت أشبه بسيرة متداخلة بين الأمكنة والحيوات والمشاعر، يرويها سامي مفصحًا فيها عن تحوّلات قريباته؛ نانا وجانو وفكتوريا وأخريات، عن مكنوناتهن ومصائرهن ومنافيهن. عن نزعاتهن الاكتئابية التي أنهكته، عن ابن أخته حسن الذي حاول إنقاذه لكنه عجز، عن المنافي التي تعد بالخلاص ولا ينجو منها أحد. فأيّ خلاصٍ في منافٍ تبدو أقرب إلى عطبٍ داخليٍّ منها إلى هجرةٍ جغرافيّة؟ قرأتْ رواية سقوط حرّ تكسّر الإنسان واندحار القيم وغربة الروح الطليقة في زمن الحرب في سوريا، بلغةٍ قطعت مع القاموس التقليديّ، واستضاءت بموهبةٍ داخليّة.
