This work aims to remedy the relative lack of interest suffered by Euripides's Heraclides by offering a new edition of the play, with an unpublished translation and a rich commentary, the first in French since that of Louis Meridier for the CUF, published in 1926. Established at new expense and based on a re-examination of manuscript L (Laur. Plut. XXXII.2), the apparatus takes into account its successive revisions and points out the areas of difficult interpretation. The verse-by-verse translation allows us to follow the progression of the Greek original as closely as possible. The commentary, lemmatic and accompanied by notes presenting each dramatic unit, offers all the information philological, historical, literary necessary for the modern reader by placing it in a dramaturgical perspective. The analysis focuses in particular on the work of the poet by practicing the methodical examination of the fundamental elements of the drama and its comparison with the tragedies of supplication.
