This book is based on a true story in the life of my mother. In order for you to get the whole picture, let me tell you a bit of her ancestry. Her grandmother emigrated from Austria to this country with her son and a younger daughter. It must have been inconvenient in that she journeyed without husband or traveling companion. Interestingly, she traveled with a trunk full of dresses and presumably a little cash. But what was even more difficult was that she had lost her baby girl at sea.
