If you still play Lemmings, this is a big help.

Yeah, I'm reviewing a book that pretty much no one cares about any more, but I might as well be the only person to review this guide. I first played Lemmings in 3rd or 4th grade, and had fun figuring out how to complete the levels. But there were a lot that I couldn't complete, and some would just plain drive me crazy, to the point where I'd fake being sick just so I could spend all day trying to get through a couple. Low and behold, this book was at Software Etc. one day in late 1993, and I got it after seeing the maps and step by step guides to each level. And you know what's even greater? This guide works for the PSP version of Lemmings. Since the majority of that game is the original Lemmings with a new coat of paint, nearly everything here applies to it. Man was I glad I held onto this book when I got my PSP a few years ago! This book has it all. Not only are there guides for every single level in the game, but the first couple of pages is dedicated to strategies on how to get the Lemmings to do more than you'd think they could. An example being how to turn a digger around, or how to save Blockers when you need 100% to clear a level. Granted, now I could probably figure all of this out without a book, but back then, none of these strategies crossed my mind. The book also acknowledges that the PC, Amiga and Mac versions of the game had some levels that were different in their versions, and has strategies for each one. The book also came with a floppy disc stored in a plastic pouch on the inside back cover with 12 extra bonus levels made specifically for this guide/diehard Lemmings fans. 4 levels for each difficulty setting, these are some of the most creative levels in the Lemmings franchise, still. One has a chameleon that'll snatch your Lemmings before you know what hit 'em. And the guys at Prima even decided to be extra helpful and show you where a secret exit is in one of these levels. If there's any complaint about the book I have, it's a minor one- that the maps are in black and white, and sometimes it's hard to tell where something is. Though this isn't much of a problem because if you're looking at the map for a level, chances are that you're looking at that same level on your monitor. Though there were one or two pages where the labels were a little off as well, it's easy to figure out where the steps are supposed to be. Consider this book the Lemmings Bible. To date, I've yet to see a better guide for Lemmings, in printer form. These days it's all about video guides, but it's always handy to have something physical that you can access when you need it. If you still play the old Lemmings, or have the new PSP version and need a hand, definitely pick up this book. It's super cheap now, and even if it doesn't come with the floppy, does your computer really still have a floppy drive?
