The world's ocean levels are rising steadily and, as this novel begins, massive flooding and heavy tropical rainfall is continuous. All basic infrastructures are collapsing one after the other. Expert oceanographer, Sol has invented a new discipline, ?waveology? or the study of waves in all their forms. He is requisitioned to repair a wavegraph located in the middle of the ocean, an instrument crucial to measuring the force of the tsunami, and departs for his perilous mission. Moored to the wavegraph, Sol discovers boats with people whose islands have sunk beneath the ocean. One of the islanders, Estrella, a woman of another world, initiates him into the mysteries of love. Then destiny intervenes: Sol's sailboat is stolen and he finds himself alone on the unanchored wavegraph, drifting in the sea with Estrella and her newborn child. Meanwhile, in the deepest crevasses of the ocean floor, tension is almost at a critical point, a gigantic, deadly tidal wave is inevitable. All land will inevitably disappear. But perhaps love can change the world?
