Written for use in a student affairs practicum, this text explores the theories that foster learning while exercises, reflection activities, and case studies illuminate the skills that students must develop to become successful practitioners.
I found this book to be a useful resource for teaching my course that went along with supervising interns in student affairs. The questions they raise about being a good supervisee, leadership, and what makes a good student affairs professional were the most helpful parts in my case. I didn't find that it was something I found necessary for each student to order. With 150 hours they are required to work plus weekly journals, etc., I didn't think they needed this text; however, as a teaching resource, this was very helpful.
