Learning Process Profile appraisal provides an experience-based framework for understanding the learning processes and patterns of students who need extra support, in turn guiding individualized strategy development. The profile procedures call on the observations and experiences of those on the front lines as the sources of information and planning - the teachers or the older students themselves. The profiles can be used as informal tools to guide problem-solving and enhance supplemental tutoring or intervention services, pre-referral intervention, assessment or program planning, progress monitoring, and more. With the collaborative assistance of an educational intervention specialist, the profile is completed and the results applied in a problem-solving process to generate meaningful, practical intervention or support strategies from the front lines. When those who do the work are the ones who inform decisions and create strategies to spur progress, the reins are in the proper hands. Profile forms and procedures were developed by the author based on extensive study, training, and experience, and then implemented on the job with teachers as a tool to assist in collaborative problem-solving.
