This book is aimed at contributing in the improvement of the knowledge of practitioners in the field of leadership by providing guidelines to lead in the information era. The primary objective of this book is to provide practical information for leaders who want to implement successful information system projects in their organizations. The secondary objective is to offer an understanding of information system projects, explain the effects of the lack of leadership roles during their implementation, and the role of leadership in improving their successful implementation. The book provides a leadership model that leaders can adopt to complete the successful implementation of information system projects and increase their success rate while reducing the adverse effects of failure. It also provides an exploration of the relationship between information systems and leadership by explaining the impact of an organization's environment on information systems and the changes it introduces to an agency. It describes the effect of leadership on information systems and builds the rationale for a leadership role in driving change and increasing the success rates of information system initiatives. The book provides a comprehensive understanding of information systems and discusses the possible reasons for an ineffective implementation of information system projects, which may result in poor adoption rates and a lower return on investment. In general, this book deals with information systems; the historical evolution of the field of information systems, the infrastructural components of an information system, the roles of technology and people within teams and organizations, best practices in information technology, information technology philosophy, and information technology and the environment. Organizational strategies and needs to determine optimal methods for organizational design are also discussed, and the historical and current trends in organizational theory are explored.
