After the weak opneing, sound advice on how to lead an organization
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
Despite the weak opening, this book is a fairly sound, albeit brief description of how to manage people. The weak opening is due to the use of the famous e = mc(squared) equation derived by Albert Einstein. A physics formula has little to do with the performance of a company and at best the analogy is weak. However, once that is over with, the advice is generally worth reading, the emphasis is on communication and synchronization, both internally and with the customers. The best relationship you can have with your customers is a win-win one, the happy customer is an asset that will spread a little bit of good cheer, each unhappy customer can spread negativity over a wide area. I don't agree with the cover statement that the recommendations in this book will revolutionize your business or that it unlocks secrets of successful leadership. All secrets of quality leadership were public knowledge long ago; it is unfortunate that the lessons have to be relearned each generation. The best advice in the book is when you are told that the best thing a leader can do is to say, "I don't know." This simple statement of a reality that is obvious to everyone resets the system to the point where you can begin anew and on the right track.
