The recently discovered register of correspondence of the Jewish community (medinah) of Lorraine is the only item from the community's archive to have survived. It includes 193 copies of important letters, written in Yiddish and Hebrew, attesting to the administrative and internal life of the community under the Ancien regime and towards the convention of the Constituent Assembly in 1789. The final letters reflect the process of the community's disintegration. The letters are summarized in French.
