Le recel des choses [French]

By Jean-Paul Carminati and Carminati-J P

In the course of writing his autobiography, a young man is committed to a psychiatric hospital.

Paul Mollet is trying to remember his past, the school playground, little girls' smiles and his friend Rupert, the English teacher's son. But with the good memories, inevitably come the fears and suffering of childhood. Overwhelmed by the intense pain his memory dredges up, Paul loses touch with the present. In the hands of a psychiatrist, he struggles to find his sanity.

A haunting novel on soul-searching and the dangers of digging up the past. What exactly is concealed in our memory? And isn't the repeated pilfering of our sacred and fragile past some kind of sacrilege?
