Layered Living: Interiors with Story and Style

By Chris DeWitt and Oscar Yague

The first book by one of today's most energetic decor brands reveals how its founders live in their own design-forward homes, which have directly influenced many other interior designers.

Made Goods has quickly become one of today's most sought-after brands. Its commitment to creating fresh, contemporary, and artful furniture, accessories, lighting, mirrors, and bath accents is driven by the realization that people need interesting contemporary pieces to layer with their existing statement furniture to create spaces that truly feel dynamic and personal.

Unique materials define this brand. Lampshades swing with strings of hand-carved beads; desks wrapped in hide-on-hair leather add tactile surprise; rugs of the thickest-pile looped yarn teased into playful modern swirls cushion cold floors; bookshelves are inspired by Gaudi; and mirrors are encrusted in shell, ringed with raffia, paved in hand-laid tile, ruffled with ceramic coral, and hand-carved in delicate patterns.

This volume explores how top interior designers including Suzanne Kasler, Carrier and Company, Corey Damen Jenkins, Lucas Eilers, Andrea Schumacher, Amanda Reynal, Megan Gorelick, Phoebe Howard, Nelli Howard, Ossi, and Meg Braff have incorporated Made Goods pieces in their own work, providing tricks on mixing and matching with a designer's eye. In-depth presentations of homes owned by Oscar and Chris, including a Mission-style Pasadena family home, a colorful and bright Palm Springs modernist retreat, and a fantastically detailed art deco apartment in Barcelona, show how adaptable their pieces are at fitting into many different locations.
