Especially for dog lovers everywhere

Lauren's Story: An American Dog In Paris by Kay Pfaltz is a heartfelt autobiographical testimony to her love of both the City of Lights and her gentle canine companion Lauren. Kay and her beagle Lauren enjoyed living in Paris. But when Lauren came down with an aggressive form of cancer, Kay essentially put her own life on hold to care for her beloved animal companion. An engaging and heartwarming story of adventure, trust, caring, and hope, Lauren's Story is highly recommended reading, especially for dog lovers everywhere.

Lauren's Story

What an absolutely wonderful book! I could not put it down and did not want it to end. This book is a must read for any animal lover!Kay has done a remarkable job expressing her love and adoration for that strange little beagle while at the same time reflecting on a culture so foreign to us Americans. I certainly hope to see more from Kay as well!

Lauren, An American Dog In Paris

This is a great read for anyone who loves their pet ! A wonderful story about a rescue Beagle and the woman that loves her. Lauren and Kay visit fabulous Paris restaurants, museums and gardens together. Something that I wish we could all do here in the states with our pets.Kay shares with us the great and unconditional love she feels for Lauren and receives from her as well. This book is deeper than you might think.

A delight.

Lauren's story starts in VA, moves to Paris and returns to VA. Lauren was a small, starving Beagle that Kay's sister, Amy, rescued and deemed perfect for Kay. When she sent a picture of her to Kay in Paris, it was love at first sight. It was a year before Kay returned home for a visit and finally met Lauren. Returning to Paris with her new friend, they were a perfect match and seldom apart from each other. Kay wrote movie and restaurant reviews. Lauren accompanied her everywhere, sitting on her own chair at the restaurants, patiently waiting for Kay to share. Quite a feat for a dog with a passion for food. The descriptions of Paris are lovely. Kay and Lauren's trip to Normandy makes you want to pack your bags and head on out for France.Lauren's many health problems finally necessitated their return to Virginia. Eventually, Kay and Lauren make one last trip to Paris together to close down their apartment.Few of us are lucky enough to have jobs that permit an almost 24/7 relationship with our pets nor do we always find ourselves with a dog that is such a perfect personality match. This is a lovely book about a little dog who found her perfect human. It is also about the special bond between two kindred spirits.I hope we see more from Kay Pfaltz. While Lauren's age would not permit another trip to Paris and this book really is Lauren's story with Paris as a background for the first half, I hope Kay returns someday, perhaps with another canine pal, to write of more adventures in France.
