In 2137's Spaceport Freedom (formerly Houston's Fifth Ward), a routine quantum jump by the sentient AI starship Matrika-7 tears open a cosmic wound, releasing ancient dark matter that transforms human laughter into a reality-warping force. Dr. Nova-Lynn Freeman discovers that these "ha-ha particles" are actually the work of Eshu-X, a cosmic trickster deity using Earth as the punchline for an eternal joke.
As the infection of cosmic humor spreads, reality begins to fragment. People laugh until their shadows become autonomous entities, carnival rides emerge from dimensional rifts, and the very fabric of spacetime starts to unravel through uncontrollable giggles. Baron von Waxler, a ruthless space industrialist, sees an opportunity to monetize the chaos by harvesting and weaponizing the ha-ha particles.
The story follows Dr. Freeman's desperate race against time, accompanied by Matrika-7's holographic avatar and Diego "Rocket" Xochitl, a space courier with a knack for quantum mechanics and perfectly-timed jokes. They must navigate through increasingly absurd and horrifying scenarios, where laughter literally tears holes in reality.
