Oh no! Mr. Bungles has overslept and he's going to be late for school. Teachers aren't supposed to be late! Poor Mr. Bungles tries rushing off in his car, the train, and even a hot air balloon, but nothing works. The clock is still ticking. What will he try next?

Late for School! is a children's picturebook about a strict teacher who oversleeps and is late for school! Mr. Bungles forgot to set his clock, and his desperate dash to be on time becomes increasingly surreal, as he misses the bus, catches the wrong van, and even flies on a hot air balloon. In the end, Mr. Bungles must admit that humans sometimes make mistakes, and change his policy from "Never, ever, ever be late for school!" to "Please try your best to be on time for school!!" Mr. Bungles' sense of urgency is perfectly captured by the cartoony, stylized, and enthusiastic illustrations, in this delightful story.
Teacher with a cheesy mustache can't seem to get out of bed on a school morning and make it to class

Nice book. Kind of simple. But the story was good, and the illustrations were good. I'm not an expert on color, but the colors on the cover did not sit particularly well with me. Nor did the colors inside the book. But I found the illustrations of good quality. I also found the text to be well thought out. I would have liked the book better if in the end the main character had raised his standards rather than drop them. But for a kid's book I don't see too much of a problem with that. Tardiness should never be acceptable. Punctuality is not something to strive for - it is something to always attain. It's OK to be early or on time - but never late. I'm pretty sure young kids will love to have this book read to them. And they will very much enjoy having the reader show them the illustrations as pages are turned. 4 stars!

Review by: Gayle Jacobson-Huset What a darling picture book this is! I really loved this book! Mr. Bungles, the teacher, has one rule for his students - never ever be late for school. He oversleeps one morning, and the reader will roar with laughter at the rhyming text, hilarious illustrations, and the modes of transportation that Mr. Bungles uses to get to school on time. Did he make it on time? You'll just have to read this adorable book to find out! This book will teach your child about different vehicles used for transportation; you'll have fun helping your child spotting the clock in each illustration so they can see what time it is, and the cleverly written rhyming text will help your child guess the rhyming word before turning to the next page. This book gets a high five from me for fun, for learning, and for having the tables turned on a teacher for a change - every kids' dream!
