A great number of Christians in the 21st century are unaware that there is a major paradigm shift taking place within the Church. This is especially true in the area of eschatology: our beliefs concerning the end-times. In the midst of a growing and much needed emphasis upon experiencing the presence of the Lord in a supernatural way, many within the Church of this generation have neglected another important aspect of the Christian experience - meditation upon the truths presented in the Scriptures. The present generation has justifiably rejected an emphasis upon indoctrination without a genuine spiritual experience. Having been raised upon a steady diet of doctrine without a corresponding experience, the Church is now at risk of moving towards the other extreme of neglecting or even despising the in-depth study of the Word in favor of spiritual encounters. This makes us susceptible to "progressive thinkers" who are subtly changing the "collective mind" within the Church towards a new paradigm which is contrary to that of the Early Church. In "Last Days - Past or Present?", the author focuses upon a significant yet subtle change presently taking place within the Church - the shift from the historic belief that we are living in the last days and that Christ could come soon - even within our lifetime, to the Preterist doctrine which teaches that the last days ended and Jesus came in AD 70, ushering in the millennial new age. Many Christians of the past generation have asked themselves why the last days and the Second Coming of Christ are no longer spoken of from many pulpits. It is primarily due to this recent departure from the historic faith of our fathers to the Preterist doctrine that the last days are behind us and we are now living in the new age. The scriptural and historical basis of Preterism will be challenged in this book.
