Laser Enucleation of the Prostate

To evaluate the efficacy and applicability of Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), comparing it to transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Both procedures were explained to patients with an indication for surgical treatment and they chose which procedure would be carried out, HoLEP or RTUp. All clinical data was collected at the hospital and a reassessment was carried out after 90 days. Results: 20 patients were operated on in the HoLEP group and 21 in the RTUp group. The preoperative peak urinary flow was 8ml/s in both groups. The preoperative symptom score was 22 in the HoLEP group and 20 in the RTUp group.
