Laser surgery is a viable method for excising small to moderate-sized laryngeal cancers, providing an alternative to radiotherapy or traditional surgery. The ideal candidates for laser procedures typically present with small vocal cord malignancies, although medium-sized vocal cord tumors and those affecting other laryngeal regions, such as the epiglottis, may also be amenable to this approach. Given that laser surgery is primarily indicated for early-stage malignancies, the prognosis for cure is generally favorable, whether through laser surgery or radiotherapy. Nonetheless, the natural course of laryngeal cancer can be unpredictable or aggressive, precluding any guarantee of treatment success. Nonetheless, the outcomes for many early-stage cancers are promising. Decision-making in the management of early laryngeal cancers should also consider the preserved function of the larynx, encompassing voice production, swallowing, breathing, and coughing. It is essential to acknowledge that any treatment modality for laryngeal cancer may impact these functions to varying extents.
