Man of La Salsa is the story of Larry Harlow, who grew up in one world - a Yiddish-speaking Jewish household in Brooklyn - and ventured into another, far different one: pre-Castro Cuba. After studying music in New York, then in Cuba, he returned to the NYC of Coltrane, Dylan and Ginsberg, bringing with him sounds and music that no one else was playing. He combined his jazz background with his love of Cuban music to form the unique sound that would captivate the world and eventually become known as 'salsa'. This is her story.
