Experiencing trauma from childhood is like growing up on a boat, on the sea, with storms constantly raging. You do your best to get your sea legs in order to get some balance. But being constantly thrown about on whoever's boat you're on at the time, all you can really do is cling on and try to survive. When the trauma 'ends' and you're back on dry land, trying to get your land legs seems almost impossible since you have no recollection of ever walking on unmoving ground.
