Everything you need to get off the ground with lace knitting

No book, especially a 31-page pamphlet, can have everything you ever wanted to know. So you need to choose carefully.
This book has everything I wanted to know. And I am amazed that something so simple can look so sophisticated. I am not sure if it is lace in general or just this book.
There is a great section on how to read charts. There are the classic charts (now the newer versions). Some people like patterns, others like charts. The trick is to be able to convert back and forth.
There are also pages on abbreviations, a glossary, and general knitting processes.
If you like to mark up the book as you go, it is smart to make a color copy and save the book for the future.
My favorite is on the cover (Rain on the Prairie) by Maureen Hefti.
