When 24-year-old HARPER HEWITT gets invited by a friend to go to Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween, she jumps at the opportunity. She's never been to the infamous "Witch City" before and is excited to explore it.

After visiting several historical sites, Harper and her friend venture into The Raven's Cauldron. It's an upscale coffee shop, wine bar, and bookstore all-in-one. Harper decides to look for a new romance book first, finds and purchases one, and then goes to the wine bar. It is there that she meets Gabriel Grey. He's from Salem, he's tall, dark, handsome, a bit mysterious, and he just so happens to own The Raven's Cauldron.

Harper is instantly captivated by Gabriel as much as he's captivated by her. It's the purest magic that either of them has ever experienced and they don't want it to end. They know it has to, though, because they each have their busy life to live-Gabriel's in Salem and Harper's in Boston where she works full-time as a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. But then fate steps in and turns both of their worlds upside down.
