ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

During the Nazi occupation, two friends will risk everything to save a secret library.

Zofia has always found comfort in books and in Janina, her best friend. Sadly, the horrors unleashed by the Nazi occupation of Warsaw are about to take everything from her. As bombs fall and Hitler's forces loot and destroy the city, Zofia realizes that not only is Janina in danger for being Jewish, but the books themselves must also be saved.

As conditions worsen, Zofia must protect her friend and rescue as many books as she can from the rubble. With the recovered titles, the two girls start a secret reading club. However, when Janina is eventually confined to the newly created ghetto, Zofia must fight with the only weapon she has left--literature--to defend what she loves most.

A moving story about the unbreakable bond between two friends and the comfort only books can offer in the midst of terror.
