There isn't much happiness in David's life apart for what his aunt Mae provides; after her ghostly career as a singer, and at seventy years of age, his mother's sister scandalizes the sanctimonious with her dyed blond hair, her brightly colored dresses and her decrepit boyfriends. After a disappointment in love and a bloody and chilling episode, the young David prepares himself for a new life on other horizons.
