I am attempting to avoid the fate of Twitter and Facebook, whose codebases are so large and unmanageable that they cannot make updates without breaking things. thus, I am using the bare minimum of code to accomplish my ends.

nothing is working yet, but am making the source available in this format for easier offline editing and debugging.
