Kukishinden Ryu Sojutsu, Naginata, Bisento

Sojutsu is the art of the spear and was the most important weapon on Samurai battlefield. The Naginata was once a large halberd used by samurai and the Sohei warrior monks, in later years it was reduced in size and was used more for home defence. The Bisento is a much larger version of the Naginata, and seems to be quite unique to Kukishinden Ryu.
This book contains all the known kata for these weapons from the Kukishinden Ryu from the Bujinkan.

The book contains the history and all the Sojutsu, Naginata, Bisento kata from this Ryuha. Each kata name has the Japanese kanji and also a translation of the name. The kata has a step by step instruction to help you practise and learn.
The kata content have been cross referenced with original densho belonging to several Japanese Bujinkan sources, and publications by Hatsumi soke. The terminology used, is taken from Japanese sources, such as Densho or publications by Hatsumi soke.

The author, Paul Richardson (15th Dan, Daishihan), has been a member of the Bujinkan for over 40 years, he has travelled extensively in Europe and USA training and teaching, and travels to Japan every year to continue his training and research..
