The story, 'KRISELDA - The Two Curses,' is inspired by folk stories. It invites the reader to step into a world of princes, princesses, curses and witches. It looks just like the places we have traveled to in our childhood, like Ion Creanga's stories. Since the beginning of the world the good and teh evil are continuously fighting. For us, human beings, the curse is evil which makes us all afraid. Breaking the curse becomes the person's under it fight to break it. In most real life stories, these can last forever. In this story, the curses are reversible, even if very hard to break as in all enchanted tales. Two brothers, Alexander and Philip are cursed to find love beyond ugliness and death. The reason? Envy, jealousy and the need of revenge of a hurt ego. The beauty of this Romanian tale is that a simple girl, Kriselda succeeds in breaking both curses and releasing the brothers. With help from her mother's spirit along with her own intelligence and bravery - she battles and wins against her own fear and the evil of the curses. In this tale from Romania, the number 13 which is known to be feared and superstitious, changes sides and becomes a number with forces for good and helps in breaking the curse.
