Kooky Crochet

I originally saw the Medusa hat and loved it to make for me for this Halloween. Tha pattern was so easy to follow and fun! When I first saw it on a blog I asked the gal that made it and she told me it came from this book so I ordered it. When I got it I was so excited because there were a ton of projects that I wanted to try. I liked that they had a lot of different levels like quick and easy to longer and a little more complicated. The red velvet cake and fried eggs are excellent fun gifts to make and with a friend's wedding coming up these were perfect bridal shower gifts. LOL.... The book also has huge color photos of each project and the paterns are easy to follow. But it was not only that I was attracted to, but the patterns themselves were so "out there" and perfect for my taste. I love to embellish and loved the fingerless gloves and leggins that are pictured on the front cover. They are just too cute and the idea to hang on those silver "dangles" are wonderful! Some of the designs are way out there and may be a bit "too much" for some, but then again we all can use a laugh or two making these cute projects. I thought that the fortune cookies, with the idea of adding a fortune, was a fun gift to give or use as favors for a party... I think that if you have been crocheting and understand the basics that the directions are clear enough for most beginners. It is innovative and fun and I am sure that most projects could be made for someone that you know if not for yourself. I loved the book and would higly recommend it to any level of "Crochetoholic" like myself!

I have written to a few of the contributor's of this book on Ravelry. They are all friendly well known people in the blog arena. This book is so much fun it's impossible to tell you just how much I smiled while thumbing through the projects. Very inspiring, and great for all the scrap yarn you have around the house. Lots of the items can make a great hostess gift to go along with something else, many can be used for toys. Very cute! Lots of fun. Nice and easy.

Crocheting isn't just for little old ladies anymore!

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my sister. It has tons of great gifts and ideas for things around the house! This is way more than just scarves and sweaters. She couldn't wait to try some of the patterns out. There are full color pictures and instructions so you can see what you'll be making. The delivery was super-fast, even with standard shipping and was at my door when they promised it would be. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to try something a little out of the ordinary or who knows someone who's into crocheting.

wacky and wonderful

I loved this book. It's not the most challenging crochet book in the world and that's great. After ruining my wrists by pounding a keyboard all day, I don't always feel like doing a "challenging" pattern. Sometimes I want fast and dare I say it, cute. I found the fried egg potholders quick and cute. And the little amigurami birds are just darling. And yes, I even liked the crocheted fortune cookies. What can you do with them? Well, they could make refrigerator magnets. Or you could use them at a bridal shower for fun - it could be something as simple as "You will never burn the toast" or "Don't even try making a red velvet cake" to other wilder things, depending on the bridal shower. Or you could do the same for a bacherlorette party. The leg warmers? well, not my particular style but my youngest sister did ask for a pair of them (for waiting for public transportation in the winter), so that's certainly handly. Not into the Medusa hat, but I have yet to find a crochet pattern book (or magazine) that was 100% patterns I liked. This is a good book for a beginner crocheter as well as the more experienced crocheter who wants to have a little fun with the hooks and yarn. Make a few of those little birds and hang them around your place and it will brighten your mood. Sneak a crocheted fortune cookie into a loved one's lunch bag with a sweet message of encouragement. Just enjoy the book and the patterns, everything doesn't have to be so darned _serious_ all the time.

Kooky crochet - OK!

I had pre-ordered this book specifically because I knew my favorite designer had a pattern inside. I was so excited that on my initial read-through there were lots of patterns that I really liked and plan to make. There is a good mixture of accessories, toys, bags, clothes etc. I hate getting stuck with a one trick pony, and this book 'aint one of them. It's totally fun and a good bargain.
