Generally speaking, this collection, Kolonial Opium and Other Poems could best be described as a product of inspiration, due to the unfortunate dislocation and stagnation of African social values occasioned by the colonial conquests. It is certain, no cultures or traditions are perfect. There are some elements that rob its people of their human dignity. Africa, and likewise other continents, is not free form these human errors, but the use of force to bury a people's memories about themselves and environment is what I call a misnomer. It is an open secret that Africa is not the only continent that experienced colonial onslaughts, but it seems that, while other colonised societies have moved on, Africa is badly grappling with the yoke of Islamisation and Christianisation, which are residues of colonial onslaughts, that have become clogs in the wheel of progress and development in modern Africa. Kolonial Opium and Other Poems takes the reader into the nostalgic past of Africa, in comparison to the present realities of the continent. Scroll up and click on the BUY button
