Mary Jane Mariani is a successful writer; her marriage is over and she can no longer write a good novel. She decides to move temporarily to a small town on the banks of the Po river. She immediately plunges into writing and lets herself be carried away by her curiosity towards its inhabitants, who are not very keen on novelty, and to a rough environment and, in autumn, completely immersed in the fog. Mary will soon find herself being the victim of paranormal events, and her rational mind will have to deal with situations bordering madness, entangled by the incorporeal coils, as light as lethal, of the white fog and of a mystery hundreds of years old.
