The essays in this volume reflect my research journey over the past few years. Variations of these texts have been published over the last decade, gradually developing key themes about the relationship between spiritual experiences and cultural frameworks. The cultural perspective of the Christian East offers an experiential paradigm for spiritual practice, which is why much of the work focuses on it. However, a comparative perspective is equally important, as Europe has been at the crossroads of different cultural paradigms. The distinction between historical cultural developments in the West and dominant patterns in the East has been a significant issue that deserves further exploration. Reading the pages below encourages a reevaluation of how a cultural paradigm can shape self-understanding and give spiritual practice its meaning.
