I have written a book about the practice of medicine. I am a retired Gastroenterologist who practiced Internal Medicine for 10 years in the US Air Force and put in a 20 year career in the Air Force. I trained in Gastroenterology and practiced in that field for about 30 years. The last 23 years of practice were in private practice. During my practice I discovered large deficiencies of knowledge in patients. There were also other problems that I noted in the practice of medicine. I spent a lot of time educating my patients. I spent time educating physicians. There were omissions in physician practice that I found unacceptable. A lot of doctors are taking shortcuts at the expense of patients and their medical care. This manuscript is an attempt to address the above issues. It is primarily for patient education. Physicians can learn from it as well. There is also a chapter about Covid and the associated misinformation about the disease. I have related websites under development. For example, the manuscript includes coverage of iron deficiency. There are many people (especially women) who are running around chewing ice and going to the Sonic or other places for ice machines that make special ice who don't understand what is going on and end up in the Dentist chair. There are people who get food stuck or have it hang up in their chest that don't understand that they have a significant problem with swallowing because the problem is occurring in the chest and not the neck. There are physicians who never learned that if you take certain medications, with limited water, they can cause a lot of pain in the chest when you swallow and end up in the Emergency Department. It is best not to clean your grill with a wire brush. The bristles may get in the food and become swallowed which may require surgery to correct. You may read about the man who thinks you can cure Covid-19 by drinking your urine. These are just a few examples of items included in the book. My last chapter is a chapter on Faith.
