Knitting My Soul is a collection of poems about the human experiences that have made me bend back into myself to find love, joy and peace in this time-space reality. These are poems that talk about the toll of the journey of a soul but more so, the joy on the other side that screams, behold

These poems are for your soul, and though they pass through the ears, the brain is not the goal. Read them with a quiet nod, not for the sake of loud posts on social media. They will dig a hole, but you will have to do the digging all through. And then with the torch you find, shine that light till your body says, oh no She/he has found another home.

At that point, realize this; nothing has been found. You had it all along.

Were I a vase
My heart would go to the rose
It smells so great
But to behold it means loss
Were I regret
I would fashion myself like a fresh rose
Where once smelt
You feel what you need to feel then let me go.

Were I trouble
I'd be hell
Dreaming about and not living in heaven.
I'm rocked in the cradle of love of the here and now
Not the past that could have been.
I'm swinging and it's freeing
This mother is my joy
This all-living
All-alive feeling is filling.

I am not the vase
I am not the rose
Neither am I the water.
I am the pouring act
The filling up
The act of life
And then
I am the sustenance of the plant
The breath of in and out
The process of life itself.
Of course I'm not the lungs or the air
But the feeling of freshness in the spirit
The sweet release of endorphins.

I am a version of a vision of myself
And since I am the director and student
I can bend the rules as I please.
I am no longer trying to break free from anything
I am falling and laughing.

I find it hard
to be me
but I can't find the guts
to leave me
so I have to be me
if it kills me
all while hoping
killing me won't be it
even if life makes a meal out of me.
