VERY INTERESTING STUDY OF MOTIVES

This is a very interesting study of women and their motives. It is set in Comfort, NC and involves Megan, Vera (Megan's mother-in-law), Stanley (Megan's husband), Ella, Sally, Elizabeth (a new boarder in Megan's garage apartment), and David (Megan's next door neighbor). Elizabeth is the key to everything unwinding. The ladies knit and talk about the happenings of long ago Shetland Island. It takes a few chapters to get into the book and then WHAM, it really moves and holds your attention.

I'm already re-reading it!

Knit in Comfort is well written, fun and interesting. The character development is wonderful, and I love the many "A-ha!" moments. I'm re-reading it so I can mark the sentences that sparked those "yes!" moments. If you've read Sharpe's other novels, this one is very different. Knit's strong storyline, believable situations and thoughtful treatment of these women's lives and decisions enhances my respect for the book and for Sharpe's writing (though I admit I'm a longtime fan of her fiction and Blaze work and anything she writes!!) Knit in Comfort has the lace knitting aspect, too, which Sharpe made interesting even though I have no interest in the craft. In other words, there's not overkill on any front, here. I recommend this book as a gift, for a good summer or vacation book, and just because it is worth your time.

Knit in Comfort is delicious!

Isabel Sharpe has outdone herself with "Knit in Comfort," a women's fiction tale that is absolutely delicious. The characters are well drawn, all of them with secrets, and all of them touch a chord in every woman's experience. (Well, except, my husband has only ONE wife, for which both of us are grateful, I'm sure.) The story is emotional and connects beautifully to old tales of the Shetland Islands and its descendants, yet very contemporary in the small town of North Carolina. Beyond the wonderful story, if you are into knitting at all, this is a must read. Who knew you could knit lace? Well done, Isabel! I'm looking forward to your next delicious story of women on the edge - or over the edge. Thanks for a terrific read. Char........
