Ethan Knight is a retired investigator for the Army's Criminal Investigation Division (CID). He's happy being retired, is young enough to enjoy it, and has an apartment facing a pool where he is planning on having a few drinks while reading a good book, watching the ladies lounging by the pool. Then the phone rings. The caller asks him to oversee an investigation into a simple drug overdose, for which the city will pay him a daily fee. Simple enough. A little pocket money, and back to the pool. A simple overdose, but the death toll begins to rise. Still, he's working with a small but competent department, and the pieces of the case slowly begin to fall into place. Untll they don't. Ethan begins to wonder if he's ever going to get to that pool as the case begins heading in directions he hadn't expected. Is this any way to spend retirement?
