'Give a Bible less than FIVE STARS???

Not on MY life I won't.Being the owner of this distinctive edition, I have yet to find the "typos" mentioned by earlier reviewers. I appreciate the footnotes, highlighting Biblical text with details as it relates to an African perspective.The book has photographs depicting various stories and events of Bible history, with actors portraying important and relevant "inhabitants" of the text.Another "bonus" is the inclusion of African-American spirituals in the book's appendix. These songs were invaluable to the slaves as a testament to their faith as well as a strategy to be used to announce "running" from their oppressors.

I really enjoyed previewing this Bible. It gives a fresh and new perspective on what it means to be a Believer in God and His risen son Jesus the Christ. I am Muslim who came to believe and understand that Jesus is God's Son and that He gave his life for my sins. Now I consider myself a Muslim for Truth, a Muslim for Jesus. When I learned this truth, it made a magnificent difference in my life. Since God is Love, Merciful, All-Knowing, All-Powerful, Every where present at the same time, no matter if you call him Jehovah Jireh, Yeshua, G_d, or Allah. This Bible is is an excellent tool for reaching the lost and the found.

This bible provides clear insight to a legacy of royalty that has long been forgotten and washed away. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is at hand and when you bring your hand close make sure this bible is in it. King James had a version and this is the standard that has been set before us, but if you are able to read this bible and have spiritual insight you will be able to free your mind. This bible provides writing for the reader to read between the lines. For hundreds of years we (African-Americans) have been opressed. The time has come to rise from that opression and give our children, our future what they deserve...the truth. Buy this book. We have been a people desimated by what we have been told what we were not and what we did not do or have or the potential to be at least human. We were forced to accept christianity on someone elses terms. And today (1998) we are still begging at the backdoor of the plantation and expected to back into the American Dream while everyone else runs screaming forward.
