Simple and Magnificent

Joe Pintauro has written a magnificent book of poetry in KITES AT EMPTY AIRPORTS. Simple, direct and heartrending, Pintauro has created a world that we smile and say "Oh, yes," to. (The only other poet who does this, at least to me, is Ferlinghetti, another of my favorites). I have read the poems in this slim volume over and over again and find that I never tire of them. My favorite of all the works in the book is LIZZIE AND BLONDIE, a poem so meaningful and touching that it was all that was read at my dad's funeral. It was enough as it was eloquent and all encompassing in its very simplicity. For those of you who don't know this wonderful writer I urge you to find a copy of this book and prepare to be delighted.
