The leader in candlemaking!

Ruth Monroe, one of the most innovative leaders in candle design, understood the basics of candlemaking and imparted her knowledge to many in the '60s and '70s. The author of a little magazine written for the dedicated candlemaker, this book was a MUST for them. She, along with Margaret Hosford, had explored the chemistry of waxes and were able to make suggestions on formulas and their appropriateness to different types of candles. From the basic dipped and molded taper, the floating candle, thru the milk carton and professional metal molds, she explored them all. She even took us thru ceramic molding. And while water and wax don't mix, as every candlemaker knows, we were taught to control and use the two together in ice candles and swirled wax decor on tapers and molded pillars. Applied decorations were suggested. Her magazine took us even further. Those of us who were fortu -nate enough to attend workshops, and know her personally found her patient in teaching, and delighted to share her discoveries and knowledge. Her book reflects this in the clarity with which it is written, and the basics imparted.
