Kissed By The Angels is not a book I would usually have purchased, it all sounded a bit sloppy for my usual taste. But I had the pleasure and I must say honour of meeting Ms Martin-Canning at an Irish Festival in CT last summer. Her exuberance, friendliness and inspirational personality indeed inspired me to purchase a copy of the novel and boy am I glad I did. I'm a man, it sounds like it should be a woman's kind of read, but it's not. A good writer should be able to cross the 'gender divide' and so she does, with a killer wit, uncomplicated style and above all the power of an age-old story-teller. Her characters are good or bad but never indifferent, they are funny and clever and captivating, leaving you wanting more more more. There's none of the nonsense pomp and circumstance of other 'best sellers', conforming with the establishment, it's just a darn good read that will make you forget about all else and engross you in the world of Orlagh, Nanna Bridie, Rory and Emmett. One of the best book you will EVER read, in my by-gone years I can tell you, I've gone through a hell of a lot. It's funny, touching, interesting, astounding - need I say more, a true inspiration.... It taught me it's never too late to follow your dreams, let it inspire you too.
Excellent!!

Well what can I say - right from the first chapter I thought that "Kissed by the Angels" was a fantastic read! Orlagh's story was inspirational, thought provoking and indeed motivational. The way that she always seemed to take everything in her stride is a lesson for us all. I laughed and cried as I shared in Orlagh's experiences. Sophie's descriptive and imaginative style of writing had me hooked and I couldn't put the book down. I am glad that I found this book and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to the next one.
A rare diamond and most beautiful gift

Sophie Martin Canning's book, "Kissed By The Angels" is an exquisite work of art and a most beautiful gift to all those who wisely choose to buy it. It is a story about the indomitable, courageous spirit of the book's lovable young heroine, Orlagh Emmet, as she endures and overcomes the prejudices and humiliation that a facial birthmark inflicts. It is a story depicting unconditional love, family unity, triumph over adversity, passion and the extraordinary strength of the human spirit. Sophie brings her colourful and vibrant characters to life, allowing us to take them into our hearts and forget they are the fictitious and ingenious creation of an incredibly talented writer. We are transported into Orlagh's world and we never want to leave it. Sophie injects a golden thread of unparalleled humour throughout the book in the guise of characters such as dear old eccentric Nanna Bridie and jolly, genial Rory. Such humour is also generously communicated through Orlagh's observations, thoughts and conversations as she journeys from innocent child to confused adolescent. The book is a treasure trove of spiritual wisdom providing not just Orlagh with the tools to survive the perilous seas of life but also the reader. These pearls of wisdom are cryptically imparted in varying guises of enchanting angels and the reader is kept spellbound as Orlagh strives to interpret their messages. As she succeeds in unravelling the prevailing message at the end of the book, the reader, like Orlagh, delights in its wisdom and beauty. This book is a rare diamond in Sophie's literary crown and I want everybody to share in its majesty. It will move you to tears; it will amaze and inspire; it will teach you and enlighten you; it will leave footprints on your heart. Sophie, I commend you.
